Participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia Vahram Kazhoyan in the Wishing Ceremony dedicated to the 48th Anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the coming 2024 New Year.

Vahram Kazhoyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, in the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic participated in the official ceremony dedicated to the 48th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the upcoming 2024 New Year, hosted by H.E. Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, the President of Laos, Secretary-General of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and his spouse on December 1, 2023.

H.E. Mr. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, H.E. Mr. Saysomphone Phomvihane, Chairman of the National Assembly and H.E. Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, with their spouses also attended the ceremony.

Ambassadors of countries accredited to Laos and Permanent Representatives of International Organizations with their spouses took part in the Wishing Ceremony.

Mr. Orhan Işık, Ambassador of Turkey to Laos, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in the Lao PDR, delivered speech on behalf of the diplomatic corps and the present ambassadors. He congratulated President Sisoulith and the leadership of the country on the occasion of the National Day, as well as the leadership and people of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on the occasion of the coming New Year. He expressed confidence that the country will continue to register economic growth, ensuring the increase in the living standards of the population.

The President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, in his speech, presented the country's achievements during the 48 years of independence, particularly concentrating on the achievements of the passing year. He attached great importance to the launch and the smooth operation of the Laos-China Railway (LCR), which has connected Laos with the main railways of the region from Vientiane to Beijing, becoming an epoch-making and strategic project for the Laotian history.

President Sisoulith highlighted the most important goal the Government has set for the country, which is leaving the list of the United Nations’ least developed countries in 2026, noting that it will be impossible to achieve and implement all the achievements without the support of the international community and friendly countries. Laos will steadily continue pursuing its policy of national independence, peace, friendship and cooperation, contributing to international peace and sustainable development.

The President of Laos spoke about the 9th five-year plan, the precise implementation of which will allow Laos to become a middle-income country and then a high-income country.

President strongly emphasized the upcoming chairmanship of Laos in ASEAN in 2024 and the declaration of 2024 as the Year of Tourism in the country.
